This is not a great idea. It’s a lazy option, and you’re foregoing the benefits of certain marketing tools through one of the networks.
Facebook’s @ tagging system is very powerful and can place you in front of thousands of users, whilst Twitter uses it’s own @ system and also the # system.
You need to write out your message and then see where you can place #’s and @’s to reach the largest possible number of people on each site.
It also looks really lazy of your posts from Twitter turn up with #’s on them in Facebook.
When I train people in using social media, this is one of the first things we undo if the client has activated it.
I agree, Jason! There’s separate strategy for both Twitter and Facebook – gotta be able to manage both!
